Duisburg, July 13, 2026. On Sunday, the international BMX elite gathered at Duisburg’s Landschaftspark for the Red Bull Trickschmiede. The BMX street contest took place against the iconic backdrop of the park’s former metal forges. On specially designed obstacles with a rusty look inspired by the Ruhr region, the riders showcased their best and most technically demanding tricks in thrilling 1-on-1 heats. German BMX legend Bruno Hoffmann welcomed the international BMX elite to the Landschaftspark:

“It was great to be involved from the very beginning—both behind the scenes and competing in the contest myself. Seeing it all come together in the end —the large crowd, the obstacles being tackled in diverse and creative ways, and the weather—made the event a total highlight” , Hoffmann said of the Red Bull Trickschmiede.

Right from the first rounds, the star-studded field of competitors delivered thrilling duels. Bruno Hoffmann prevailed over Britain’s Joe Jarvis. Nico Van Loon also provided one of the day’s highlights with his 360 gap over the Star obstacle in his heat against Sasha Cambon. The spectacular maneuver was loudly celebrated by both the spectators and the other riders. In addition to the internationally renowned BMX pros, two local wildcard winners also took part in the course, having prevailed the previous day at the Street Jam as part of the Red Bull Sessions.

As the knockout phase progressed, American and international legend Garrett Reynolds in particular emerged as the favorite. Reynolds had won two X Games medals in the past two weeks, making him the most successful X Games athlete of all time. Bethany Hedrick and Emma Finnegan also impressed the audience and the judges with strong performances and ultimately faced off in the final.

In a thrilling final showdown, Kilian Roth ultimately prevailed over Garrett Reynolds with his manual 180 on the outrail, securing the victory at the Red Bull Trickschmiede.

“It’s absolutely crazy! I never expected to win the final, especially against Garrett. It’s unbelievable, and I’ll need a few days to really process what happened here today,” said an emotional Kilian Roth after his victory. In the women’s competition, Bethany Hedrick won with her Feeble Grind to Barspin on a picnic table and also claimed the Red Bull Trickschmiede trophy.

“Taking the trophy back to the U.S. feels absolutely fantastic. This is my first visit to Germany, and I’m looking forward to sharing this special experience with everyone back home,” said Hedrick, a leading figure in women’s BMX street. “I’m also proud to be part of the women’s BMX street scene. It’s inspiring to see how strongly the girls performed in today’s contest and the level of skill they demonstrated.”

The Red Bull Trickschmiede marked the end of a unique and extraordinary BMX event that impressively combined the distinctive DNA of the Ruhr region with international BMX sports.
