Varvara Veremeichuk is from Murmansk, Russia, a city in the far north where she spent most of her life. Shortly after buying her first camera, Varvara planned to film BMX street riding in St. Petersburg. But life took a sharp turn, leading her back to Murmansk, where she began looking at her hometown in a completely different way. Her video, which is titled “Mmnsk_1” is a discovery of the spots, streets, and inspiration hidden within the city. The title is a shortened version of Murmansk, with the “1” representing Varvara’s first video, filmed with her own camera and edited by her.
