2021 Bloom BMX Rookie of the Year

2021 was a new chapter for women’s BMX with the introduction of BMX Freestyle to the Olympics. We saw queens crowned for the first time and new BMX royalties emerge. With a few categories left to go, we will be announcing each day the recipients of the remaining Bloom BMX Award categories.

Yesterday, Jesse Gregory took Bowl Rider of the year, today, we are pleased to announce Aubrée Henson as your 2021 Bloom BMX Rookie of the Year.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
Aubrée Henson

At the current age of 8, UK-born Aubrée Henson is a bright and young talent coming up in BMX. She’s already hooked up by companies like Fuse and Cult, and has a following of 15k+ Instagram followers. Of course, this kind of success couldn’t have happened without Aubrée’s parents being involved and supporting her interests. We are excited for the future of women’s BMX, and honestly a little terrified. Aubrée may not even realize it, but she’s setting a new bar for what it means to be a female BMXer. 2021’s Rookie of the year had tough competition, but this year goes to Aubrée Henson. Here are some words from other riders in the community.

“Big congratulations on winning the Bloom BMX Award for Rookie of the Year! You absolutely deserve this award, your progression over these past few years has been incredible and we can really see all the hard work you have put into riding your BMX and progressing on your bike! Best of luck with what’s to come and keep shredding girl! Keep the stoke alive!!???” – Sarah Dinel (Canadian BMX Elite Women)

Aubrée’s riding is pure BMX, the stoke of learning and having fun no matter the spot. That is so awesome to see every time She is on the bike. So proud and we are psyched to be a part of her journey.” – Robbie Morales (Cult)

“So excited for Aubrée to get some recognition in the scene as Rookie of the year! She is throwing down some real tricks at such a young age, she has mad style and gets me stoked every time I see her post clips. I can’t wait to see where she takes BMX over the next few years.
