A very important person in our community needs our help. Her name is Marie Meuret. You might not know her personally, but you may recognize her from the incredible work she’s done to elevate the women’s BMX flatland scene through @flatlandbmxgirls.
A few years ago, I met Marie for the first time in Montpellier. During that trip she shared with me that she had recently been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, and that one day the symptoms might prevent her from continuing to run the account. Four years later, her MS has unfortunately progressed, and she is currently in Hôpital Gui de Chauliac in Montpellier, where she is participating in a clinical trial.
When I saw Marie back then, the effects of MS were already beginning to show, but she was able to get around with a cane. Today, she needs additional support to maintain her mobility.
Marie has set up a GoFundMe to help cover the care and assistance she needs. I’ve made a donation, and I hope you might consider doing the same.
We all know what it feels like when we can’t get out to ride. Let’s come together as a community and help give Marie the quality of life she deserves.
