NEW PARK IN PA! Woods Room Bike Park

Woods Room Bike Park is being developed by a team of lifelong BMX riders, mountain bikers, trail builders and event organizers: Mark Potoczny, Mike Potoczny, Justin Cummings, Dave Bartek, Rich Rostauscher and JohnIrv Hollingshead. Together, we’ve spent the past thirty years building spaces that support the riding community — from indoor parks, BMX trails and backyard ramps to major events and city wide bike programs.

Now, we’re working to bring a new 50,000-square-foot indoor bike park to Pittsburgh, PA — a year-round facility designed for riders of all ages and skill levels to ride, progress and connect. With community support, this project will become a central hub for the region’s bike culture and a space to keep the scene rolling through all seasons.

What We Need & What You Get

We’re raising $100,000 to help cover the costs of materials, construction, permits and essential equipment to open the doors of this park.

Your contributions go directly to:

  • Building ramps, jump lines, pump tracks, and beginner-friendly zones
  • Code and occupancy requirements for fire safety and accessibilty
  • Bringing in world class ramp builders
  • Facility updates from bathrooms, lighting, lounges and more
  • Build out of our check-in and shop area

Perks for contributors include:

  • Early access sessions
  • Limited edition park merch
  • Once in a life time experiences with professional riders
  • Art and other collectables from professional riders
  • Founders Wall recognition inside the building

If we don’t reach the full goal, every dollar still goes toward building as much of the park as possible — with priority on getting the doors open and safe spaces rideable for the community.

The Impact

This indoor bike park isn’t just a building — it’s a gathering space, a learning environment and a safe place for kids and adults to be active year-round. Pittsburgh’s weather can make riding outside difficult for months at a time. This facility will fill that gap, offering everything from beginner lessons to expert jump lines, from youth programs and summer camps to weekend events.

Risks & Challenges

Building an indoor bike park is a big project with plenty of moving parts — city approvals, construction timelines and operating costs. But we’ve been here before — working with tight budgets, navigating local regulations and building creative spaces from the ground up.

Our plan is flexible — starting with core features like jump lines and pump tracks that are in our hands from The Wheel Mill. If there are delays or funding gaps, we’ll focus on phased rollouts to get people riding as soon as possible.
