Tokyo Olympics – Women’s Park Finals

BMX is unpredictable. Hannah Roberts USA had a perfect first run, but Charlotte Worthington GBR shook what we knew was a sure thing, by completing the first backflip 360 by a woman, followed by a front flip, a flair, and taking home GOLD to Great Britain. This was a historic weekend for a number of reasons. For one, just in the last Olympic cycle, UK Sport decided to cut funding by investing only in men, so athletes like Bethany Shriever (Gold medalist in BMX racing just this weekend)  had to fund her own way. Charlotte, on the other hand, received funding later on after having to support herself, but after this weekend’s success, hopefully, UK Sport will see the value of funding both the men and women. Two, the excuse that the women are not at the level they should be for a competition like X Games has been debunked, sorry, you can’t argue this anymore, you’re drunk, go home. Three, plainly and simply put, we got to witness BMX Freestyle at the Olympics for the very first time. Congratulations to all the athletes, be proud of your journey because know that we are proud of you. Here are your final results for the Women’s 2020 Tokyo Olympics Park Finals.
