The Bloom BMX Photo Contest 2025 Winners

The 2025 Bloom BMX Photo Contest is DONE! This year’s contest was made possible thanks to our sponsors Canon USA, Peak Design and Vans BMX, along with our judges Maddy Mario, Naoki Gaman and Tasha Lindemann, but it truly wouldn’t be possible without the efforts of the amazing women who submitted photos. Thank you!

This year’s theme was “Women’s BMX”, the top photos were chosen based on the “strongest compositions and display a solid understanding of BMX and the tricks they are photographing.” – Tasha. After a few days of reviewing each entry, we are very excited to crown Hannah Stienstra as your 2025 Bloom BMX Photo Contest Winner! Hannah will be receiving a Canon R50 Camera with Kit Lens, a feature in the 2026 Bloom BMX Calendar, accessories from Peak Design and apparel from Vans BMX. Peak Design was also gracious to provide gifts for the second and third place winners.

Below are the entries and feedback from our judging panel. Thank you and we’ll see you next year.

First Place HANNAH STIENSTRA

“I really love the use of strobes, the vibrance of colour and the action. Just an overall stunning, thoughtful photo with a cool story behind it.” – Beatrice

“The colors of the sunset were so beautiful, it was the most eye-catching of all the submissions. Shooting in such a beautiful setting requires either good luck or careful planning and patience. I think that’s one of the key elements for a good photo.” – Naoki

“Hannah crushed that bar spin photo, overall exciting image and good exposure (and you know I love a bars back situation!)” – Maddy

Second Place RONIA NASH

“Ballsy action shot, super dynamic and close call! Great focus and use of shutter speed and depth of field to capture the movement of the bike and focus on the face!”- Maddy

“It’s an exciting action shot! To be able to get this close, photographers need a good relationship with the rider, which is important for a BMX photographer, so I think she did a great job.” – Naoki

Third Place ROSA

“The spot was very unique, and the Smith trick choice was cool. I also thought the composition was great.’ – Naoki

“Love that this was a self capture, I think she’s got a really good future in photography, she’s naturally so good with composition.” – Beatrice

“I love the composition and scene of this image. Such a great capture of movement for a trick that can often look stationary. Bold, creative and unique!” – Tasha

THANK YOU EVERYONE WHO SUBMITTED A PHOTO, WE WILL SEE YOU NEXT YEAR.

Honourable mentions to the crew who made the prizes possible, thank you to Meg Pattillo Valliant, Cory Coffey, Paul Hawxhurst, Jamie Hart, Colin McKay, Sofia Silva, Charmine Cariazo and Agata Keyle.
